About Us
Our Journey
Couples can experience difficulties with conception for many reasons. But disappointment, concern, and the question: ‘What now?’ are the factors that unite us all.
Since starting Baby4You under the Tests4Less name in 2002, we have often been invited to share in the joys and disappointments that couples have experienced after embarking on ‘the journey’ of trying to conceive. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to have personally connected with so many wonderful people through the service we offer. In turn we would like to take this opportunity to share with you something of our own personal journey.
Through our professional work and qualifications in the fields of Biological Science, Health, Education and Counselling – along with our own personal experiences – we developed a long-standing interest in fertility related issues. During the first eighteen years of our married life, an unrealised dream of having children brought us face-to-face with a range of underlying fertility issues that were discovered through various medical tests and investigations. Through our lengthy struggle to find answers, we came to understand the frustration, disappointment and financial drain that comes with infertility.
We reconciled ourselves to a life without children, but when nearing our fortieth and fiftieth birthdays in December of 2002, I was unexpectedly struck down with a ‘mystery illness’. Symptoms included extreme tiredness, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting. Medical investigations eventually revealed the impossible – I was pregnant!
Unfortunately the joy of that discovery – and my dream of being a stay-at-home mum – was tempered by a series of pregnancy-related illnesses that saw me being bed-rested at home and in hospital for the majority of my pregnancy. This unexpected set-back led us both to think of ways to help other couples.
We had personally learned a lot from our own infertility experiences – and we had spent a considerable amount of money along the way. It seemed obvious we should move to provide ‘online’ home-based fertility products, general support and education to others. After all, we now had our own beautiful little boy, Hamish, (born on August 10, 2002 – two weeks early by emergency caesarean section – and weighing in at a healthy 9lbs.
Since then our business has grown while we enjoy being ‘parents at last’. In June 2006 we restructured our business under the brand name Baby4You, with a fresh new on-line look and expanded product range.
We take pride in offering fast and friendly customer service and support. If you have any questions (don’t be embarrassed or hesitant – just ask us!) We will always answer queries regarding our products or fertility testing in general through our contact us page.
